Them Turkeys are at it again ;o)

I finally got my results to the course i finished in June. *Giggles crazily*. I got a distinction! People will probably think i'm showing off (which of course i am!) but ever since my health started going crazy, i was only getting just passable grades - so this is the first time in ages that i'm actually happy with my grade. *Bounces*

Carry on.

Congratulations - it's not showing off, just a cause for celebration. :-)

Thank you! The sad thing is i haven't been able to tell anyone, because everyone's been out all day, and still haven't come home...so i had to acknowledge it somewhere :o)

Oh! I've been meaning to ask - are you going to Pegasus Gate 2 in Feb? I'm not booking tickets until someone else has been announced...but the contact group has gone silent - so i dont know who's definitely going! ♥

I'm definitely going and so is Diana ([livejournal.com profile] starbird57). I'm pretty sure shells from Ireland is going as well - I haven't heard from the others.

I decided that I enjoyed Gatecon enough to not worry about the guests - not that David Hewlett isn't the icing on the cake, but I know guest lists can change right up to the last minute.

There's an LJ community for people who are going, to connect beforehand [livejournal.com profile] peg2con - you might find it interesting anyway.

Oh thanks for the community info - i will definitely check it out! As for Diana - i literally found her journal earlier by accident! I saw 'starbird' and i thought to myself 'i wonder if that's Diana' so I posted a comment (and now thanks to you, i know it definitely IS her account and i'm not just stalking a complete stranger - lol!)

And Gatecon WAS fab even without the huge names, so i'm leaning 80:20 at the moment towards going ahead anyway...not sure what it will be like seeing David in the flesh...i just hope it doesnt make me stop reading my McShep stuff! If only Joe will come as well *sighs*

*Hugs and Kisses* Funny you should mention turkeys - I was referring to them today ...

Completely random but there is a purpose!

How do you pronounce 'w' in Welsh? And 'ff'? Two 'ls' - 'll'? For example, 'Llara', how would one pronounce it ~ thanks lol?

Also, do you know any Welsh sirnames? Throw them at me if you do, I know you know some Welsh.

Okay, back to your normal rambling.

'W' is pronounced the same as the English unless it's in the middle of a word, and in between two consonants - then it's pronounced 'ooo' (like the 'o' in who). 'ff' is the same as one 'f' except with maybe a bit more of an enunciation so that you can hear it clearly, like in fish. 'll'? Do you know how HARD it is to explain how that sounds?!!!!

Ummm....oh help! Put your tongue on the gum above your top teeth (on the inside of the mouth, but not the roof of the mouth), then say 'ess'. The spitting/hissing sound that replaces the 's' sound is the 'll' sound. Does that help at all?

As for Welsh surnames: Llewelyn/Llewellyn, Lloyd, Prys, Morgan, Padrig, Rydderch ('dd' makes a 'th' sound), Pritchard, Puw, Bowen, Griffith/Gruffudd/Gruffydd (the 'y' is an i as in 'is' sound), Rhys, Gwyn/Gwynn, Davies/Davis, Thomas/Tomos, Williams, Jones (yes - these originated from Wales - i've put the 'welshier' spellings next to them if there are any).

Alternatively: this (http://www.amlwchdata.co.uk/welsh_surnames.htm) explains how surnames used to work, and there's a link at the top to give you more names.

Why? You've gotten me curious now :o)

Thanks! Tried pronouncing and my toungue was tied. I like how Llara looks so I'll use it and hope for the best!
