*Dusts off LJ* Does this thing still work?
I know i'm bad at updating this - but i think i now have a new record - nearly 4 months without updating? I've impressed myself!
I've spent the last few months working on assignments and projects (one about local municipal waste, the other about succession on sand dunes), and some of the pressure has finally lifted. Thank goodness for school summer holidays - i don't think i would have managed it if i'd had to work as well! But still, only 2 more assigments to go, then the exams. We've decided that we're going to be doing Gatecon in October - and that's the day after my final exam, so i've got something to look forward too! Colin Cunningham is attending again (Major Paul Davis), Teryl Rothery will be there (Dr. Janet Frasier) and Carmen Armensomething (who plays Jacob Carter...i can never remember his surname), so i'm quite looking forward to it! My parents are paying this time, so it means i may still be able to do Peg 3 in January.
High School Musical 2. Is it sad that as old as i am, i love a good sing-a-long and love those films? I saw 'Hairspray' earlier this week, and while i thought it was a bit too long, i loved the soundtrack - there's some really good songs on there! I also saw 'Transformers'...another love of my childhood - my brother and sister both enjoyed it, and i did too! And they both agreed that 'Rush Hour 3' was much funnier than 'The Simpsons Movie'. I'm not a big Simpson fan...but i thought the film was crap.
I got back last night from seeing Les Miserables in London on saturday...absolutely brilliant performance. They had John Owen-Jones playing Jean Valjean, who is the most amazing singer, and blows me away every time. Here is a recording of him singing 'Bring Him Home' from Les Miserables sung at the Jones, Jones, Jones concert in Cardiff a few months ago (and for those wondering - the introduction is in Welsh) which shows not only his vocal range, but his strength as well - everytime i hear him sing that song, i get shivers down my spine. The first time my mum and i saw him was in 2002, playing Valjean in London, then in 2004 we saw him quite by accident playing the role of the Phantom in the Phantom of the Opera in the West End, and this time we deliberately picked to see him again. What can i say? He's Welsh, good-looking and has a beautiful voice - what more could a girl want? ♥

I can't make it to Gatecon, but I know several of the people who were at the Cheltenham one will be there. Here's crossed fingers for Peg3, which I am going to.
Thanks for the link - Bring Him Home is such an incredible song, and he sings it beautifully.

It will be nice to see some familiar faces at Gatecon this year...and yes, i really hope i go to Peg 3...while i love Stargate, i prefer Atlantis, so i'd much rather see those actors at a convention!
And as for John - he puts so much emotion into his performances. When i sat there listening to him singing on Saturday, i had this big grin across my face every time he opened his mouth. I'm sure i embarrassed myself :o)

I've found you via your great Cardiff site, via a load of Torchwood comm sites that I'm bookmarking (sad or what?). What a great idea - I'm Caardiff born and Caardif bred and am so proud and pleased to see Cardiff all over the world in such a great series. My primary fandom is Spike - wheee, James gets to kiss Barrowman!!! - but thanks to the all-worshipful RTD who invited Marsters onto TWood all the Spike fangurls and bois are slowly getting converted. And it's MY city! - Were you at the Point to see James last month and in July?
Anyway, all that aside, is there any chance of a group of people from Cardiff and area getting together to see Barrowman in panto? I'd love to go and Brum is hardly a million miles away but my depression has a tendency to stick spikes in my feet (and not the nice vampire sort of Spike) when it comes to actually going anywhere. If I could go with someone it would be great fun.
Thanks again for the wonderful site and good luck with it - I'll be linking to it on my site (as soon as I can work out how to do it).
and P.S. - I just love that you're a Christian slash fan!

I'm Caardiff born and Caardif bred and am so proud and pleased to see Cardiff all over the world in such a great series. It is really cool to see the place finally get recognition isn't it? I started watching DW and TW just to be able to say 'i know where that is!' at the tv! It's kind of a shame that the assembly have chosen this specific time to give it a make-over...although construction is coming along faster than i thought it would! While i'm not Cardiff born and bred...i'm Bristol born and Barry bred (there are times when i shock myself with the 'english' that comes out of my mouth - it's not as if i even live in the rough parts of Barry - lol!)
I just love that you're a Christian slash fan! *Hangs head in shame* Slash is one of those guilty pleasures for me...i know i shouldn't be reading it, but i can't seem to help myself. I even went 3 months without reading it in an attempt to 'quit'...but it didn't last - it's very much a slippery slope for me :o)
Mind you slash is how i became a Spike fan - or more specifically a Spike/Xander fan - i stumbled across Lazuli's 'Repossession' story, and fell into the fandom! Very much looking forward to the scenes between him and Mr. Barrowman even though i'm a Jack/Ianto fan in this 'verse. And no i didn't see him at The Point...i'm usually the last person to find out these happenings and miss them! Hehehe. As for seeing John in Birmingham - i would have loved that - however, i know my mum tried to get tickets for me to see him as a christmas present, and was unsuccessful, so i assume it's all sold out. Never mind, i have to content myself with Kai Owen in the New Theatre in Jan, so it's not all bad! And as for depression...i completely understand and sypmathize. I had surgery a few years ago, and suffered from depression and panic attacks as a consequence - was on medication for them both until last christmas, when i decided enough was enough and stopped taking them (i've had ups and downs since then, but haven't had to resort back to the meds).
Anyhoo...this is turning into an essay, so have a lovely new year!

Thanks for friending me back - we'll have to get together for real some time!
