I can haz Pogs!

Way, way back, like, 12 years ago, Pogs was a game that took over many schools.  I remember playing Pogs every break-time and lunch time.  And yesterday i caved on e-bay and brought a few more boxes packs to add to my rather worn collection.  Having sorted through my collection, it has come to my attention that i am missing only 1 Pog from the Series 2 collection to make it's completion.  Which is rather frustrating.  1 Pog!  I'm currently debating the worth of hunting down that last Pog in order to ease that obsessive compulsion of having a complete set.  Not to mention i may have started collecting the Pogs World Tour series too.  Oh the kini's are so pretty.

Okay.  Dilemma time.  My friend is having a birthday party next week which i have been invited to go to, to which i've said yes, and am regretting it immensely.  Someone please come up with a good excuse for me to use to not go.  Everytime i see this group of 4 friends, 3 of them sit there telling the world how wonderful their life is, how much they're making, how their child is doing, their latest promotion, how the wedding planning is going etc. etc.  I don't think i can listen to that again.  Because me? I can't handle their judgement again.  I love my job as a dinner lady.  I also know it's temporary until i finish my degree and teachers assistant training...but all they see is 'dinner lady', which does not equal something worthwhile.  And it gets me down which equals to me not wanting to go.  But i don't want to be rude.  So please.  Any excuses?

But anywayz.....Pogs!

Hehe I remember Pogs. I think I had slammer whammers, actually. I did some GCSE maths coursework on probability with them.

Hmm if you don't want to go to the party you could just say you're ill?

Oh slammer whammers! I have some of those as well, but their collection is not as impressive as my Pogs collection. *Pets Pogs*.

You did your maths coursework on them? That would have been so cool...if i remember correctly, at my school we weren't given a choice on coursework, and had to do a project to do with areas of squares, and random pattern areas while coming up with an algebraic equation to fit and predict each. Pogs would have been waaay more fun. :o)

I could try illness...i'll have to think on that one and see if i can come up with a 'believable' illness that wont have them go 'she's faking.' Lol! Thanks for the idea!

You could say you have a prior engagement you forget about until reminded (I have no idea what this engagement could be, possibly family outing? Need to take care of the children because your brother/mother can't? Maybe an appointment of some kind?)

Or echoing the above commentor, fake illness? (Which won't be that fake, after all, the mere thought of this party is causing you to feel unwell so it is in your best interest of health not to attend.) You woudl have to call either the night before or the morning of that day though for that to be considered vaild.

OR, you could say that you really need to finish a TMA/essay (which is taking longer than you thought) as it important for your course - and it has to be done now?

Um...I can't think of anything more. I'll comment again if I can.

{Off topic, sorry about not sending Chapter 18 of TWWC, I spent Thrusday completely out of it and Friday = Olypmics which again knocked me out. And today = beta reading a chapter for someone + ironing.

Ugh, apologies for all the excuses. I will get it out to you this week, hopefully before Tuesday. Sorry dear!}

See, i very much want to take the prior engagement route...but the restaurant is just down the road from me, so if they see me wandering about, or with the lights on, they may go 'huh? didn't she say?' I'm wondering whether i could take B to see Mammia Mia in Cardiff that night, but i risk the chance of being spotted on the way home then. *frustrated sigh*

As for the TMA...that may work...hmmm....*ponders*

And hey, no worries about TWWC...if you sent it today i wouldn't be able to read it anyway what with it being 'No Slash Sunday.' ;o)
