Now i'm not much of a Facebook user, i'll admit that, but last week Stargate actors [Garry Chalk] (Colonel Chekov) and [Dan Payne] (Many different Wraith and Supersoldiers) added me as friends on there. And you know what? That really made my week.

I get home from work just now and in my email inbox is a friend request from [Erick Avari] (Kasuf). I love Erick. I met him in 2006 and he was such a gentleman. He also has the softest cheeks i have ever known and he added me as a friend on Facebook. He. Added. ME. I am really fighting the urge to cackle loudly and madly especially since my profile picture is of Erick, my brother and myself from the 2006 Gatecon. This has made my YEAR.

"Erick Avari added you as a friend on Facebook. We need to confirm that you know Erick in order for you to be friends on Facebook."

Naturally, i confirmed.
I can't believe it's been nearly 6 months since i've updated this journal. I can't believe we're already in May, and 2009 is nearly halfway through. Is the rest of life going to fly by at this insane pace? If it is...stop the ride - i want to get off! Lol!

I've been insanely busy these last few months, working on two courses at the same time, working (both paid and voluntary) and trying to develop a social life (and so far, i think i'm managing okay!)

★My LSA course is due to finish at the end of May, and i have a whole mountain of courswork left to go. My assessment and observation by the class teacher has yet to happen due to several postponements, and while at first i didn't mind, now with the end of the course approaching and a lot of coursework relying on said assessment, i'm starting to feel the clock ticking and the pressure building. I'm both excited and terrified at the end of this course. Excited, because it hasn't been the most mentally stimulating course, and i'm glad to see the back of boredom and courswork, and terrified because after the course is over i a.) have to look for an LSA job in a new school because the current one doesn't have any jobs going, and b.) learn to drive, which was a target i set myself once this course is over. When i said i would learn to drive in May all the way back in January, i had no idea May would swing around so fast - i'm not ready!

★My OU course on the otherhand is going incredibly well. It's called "Environmental Control and Public Health' which focuses on environmental policies and legislations, and way to improve environmental and living conditions in both the developed and developing countries (full details can be found here). While i'm not really enjoying the course, as i prefer learning about the physical world like glaciers, oceans and volcanoes, one thing that i've learnt during my studies with the OU is that the courses i don't like are the ones i do better with. The two assigments i've done with this course so far have recieved 96% and 100% respectively and while i'm estatic with the grades (i've never had grades that high since I was like 12), it leaves me wondering if the assessors actually read what i submitted - i'm telling you, they were both piles of bull$&!@.

★I managed to destroy my computer again last month, but luckily the technical minded brother was around to reformat the whole thing. I lost some stuff, but it was no-where near as emotionally devastating as losing the 500GB of photos, videos, coursework/school work and references, as when my younger brother accidently kicked and destroyed my external hard drive back in November.

★I've gotten back in touch with three old school friends, one whom i've met up with once, one whom i've met up with twice, and another i'm hoping to meet up with soon.

★And finally! I've been to London, done a Duck Tour and saw Dirty Dancing and We Will Rock You. While i preferred WWRY, i am still somewhat boggled how someone came up with such an 'out-there' story to link all the Queen songs together! That was a seriously bizarre story! But the singing was great :o)

Here's to it not being another 6 months before an update! ♥

Hope you have a fantastic day!  I'm glad you liked the card, although i'm sure it classes as cheating to open it a day early!

Because you won't get your present from me until next week, head over to [livejournal.com profile] perfume_world for a little something.  It's not a story (because we both know how good i am at avoiding it), but hopefully you will like them.
I may seem like a complete idiot when i say this but: i never knew cows could be so big!

As the schools are switching to more 'hands on' learning with the introduction of the Foundation Phase, my school had a cow brought in on Friday to teach the 4 - 7 year olds where milk comes from and how to milk a cow.  The children then made milkshake/smoothies with the milk they had obtained from the cow, and several farmers wives came in to make bread with the children.

Now i'm 5'6" roughly, and the cow?  The body came up to my nose.  Seriously....i just stood there and my jaw dropped.  Because cow = BIG cow.

But oh so funny...one six year old was talking to me and said "you'll never believe this...but there's a cow in the school.  The Head Teacher wouldn't believe me when i told him." Hee...it's so funny baiting children sometimes.  I tried very hard to keep a straight face because i knew at that precise minute the Head and Assistant Head were cleaning up a pile of cow dung that the cow had very kindly donated.

And oh how i'm getting fed up of my Dad telling me he's seen Torchwood filming....and yet whenever i go to Cardiff, that's apparently their day off.  S'no fair :o(

[livejournal.com profile] luthienberen , i promise i'm not ignoring you - yahoo is doing my head in at the moment taking ages to load all the time - i've temporarily given up...i don't know if it's just me.
Way, way back, like, 12 years ago, Pogs was a game that took over many schools.  I remember playing Pogs every break-time and lunch time.  And yesterday i caved on e-bay and brought a few more boxes packs to add to my rather worn collection.  Having sorted through my collection, it has come to my attention that i am missing only 1 Pog from the Series 2 collection to make it's completion.  Which is rather frustrating.  1 Pog!  I'm currently debating the worth of hunting down that last Pog in order to ease that obsessive compulsion of having a complete set.  Not to mention i may have started collecting the Pogs World Tour series too.  Oh the kini's are so pretty.

Okay.  Dilemma time.  My friend is having a birthday party next week which i have been invited to go to, to which i've said yes, and am regretting it immensely.  Someone please come up with a good excuse for me to use to not go.  Everytime i see this group of 4 friends, 3 of them sit there telling the world how wonderful their life is, how much they're making, how their child is doing, their latest promotion, how the wedding planning is going etc. etc.  I don't think i can listen to that again.  Because me? I can't handle their judgement again.  I love my job as a dinner lady.  I also know it's temporary until i finish my degree and teachers assistant training...but all they see is 'dinner lady', which does not equal something worthwhile.  And it gets me down which equals to me not wanting to go.  But i don't want to be rude.  So please.  Any excuses?

But anywayz.....Pogs!
Happy Birthday luthienberen!

Hope you're having a lovely day and that you got lots of nice presents! :o) Six years of friendship! It's such a relief knowing that I have someone on the same wavelength as me...no matter how *coughs* gutter-like it may be - here's to another six years! (Hopefully at some point we will be able to crawl out of the gutter we fell in.....) Did the card arrive on time?
♥ Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] luthienberen! ♥

Despite the pain you and your family have been through lately, i truly hope you have a wonderful day. *Hugs* I'm so glad to have a friend such as you in my life! I'm hoping that your card arrived on time, although knowing the post, that won't be the case. So...sorry if your card is late!! :o)
Okay...i think livejournal hates me. A lot of people have funky colours and different sized texts in the LJ user info - why doesn't mine let me do the same? When you look at mine, it's all in the same colour, and the same size. But i've got the coding there for different colouring AND sizing - if i copy and paste my user info text (from the edit page) into this journal entry...it looks all sparkly: yet it doesn't on the user info page. *Bashes LJ* Why not? What am i doing wrong?

Also - i've read several journals where people have posted comments about taking their nanowrimo to work, and/or posting parts of it to their journal. I thought it wasn't meant to start until November? *Confused* Am i meant to have begun already or are these people cheating? If they're starting early, maybe i should...Lord knows i need all the time i can get.

LB - i'm still attempting iconsesss for you. *Offers you flower icon* Do you want this one as a downpayment? Hehehe...I promise i will make a pretty Daniel icon for you...eventually. *Bashes Paintshop* Why won't you do what i want you to do?

Maybe it's just my computer.

It's my last shift at Blockbuster tomorrow, and in the last three years at Blockbuster i could have had a possible 1248 free rentals. I've had a measley 338. Guess i've saved the company a little bit of money :o) I honestly didn't think i'd regret making the decision to go. Don't get me wrong - I love my new job, and i wouldn't resign, but if Claire asked me tomorrow to stay, and maybe do night shifts instead...i'd say yes in a heartbeat. *Shrugs* But that's life i guess.

Also: Check out this site, and listen to Kaven's Lullaby. You don't need to download anything, just enter the site. But Kaven's Lullaby - it's absolutely beautiful.

I forced my Dad (who is a musician) to listen to it:
Dad: Hey this is pretty good
Me: I know! I could listen to this all day.
Dad: So who is he?
Me: Joe...y'a know the guy who was in my geography class in St. David's
Dad: .....
Me: I saw Two Towers with him?
Dad: Oh him! The guy you went on a date with!
Me: *Cringing* It wasn't a date - it was just two friends going to the cinema together
Dad: But you still went with him

In other news:

Guess who's going to Gatecon in August?

So today i went round Fatima and Amjad's to meet their 5 day old son.

I completely forgot how small and light babies are. *Sighs* He was just so cute, and he smelled really nice and babyish. They don't have a name for him yet, but it will probable be Rizik, since Arabic tradition is to name the first born son after the fathers' father. Fatima isn't very keen on having an Arabic name for her son, especially when she wants to call him Joseph John, but I told Fatima it reminded me of Vin Diesel's character "Riddick" from "Pitch Black" and "Chronicles of Riddick", rather than an Arabic name, so I think that amused her. (Well, she laughed.)

But i ended up holding him for well over 2 hours to give Fatima a chance to sort out her room...and he slept the entire time. He is a very good baby...and did i mention cute?

I love children - i really, really do :o)
Happy 21st Birthday [livejournal.com profile] luthienberen!!!

I hope you have a fantastic day, and a much better year than last year!

Hehehe...your present has been sitting on my desk for the last 2 weeks! :o)
[livejournal.com profile] luthienberen Thank-you for the message and it was lovely chatting to you! (See ya Wednesday, and good luck with the interview!)

[livejournal.com profile] akira42 Thank you for the text! (And it was cool chatting to you too...even thought i chat to you allll the time! See you in um...11 hrs?)

You know...i didn't get a phone call or a card from my grandparents (the same grandparents i wrote about last month) and it bothers me less than the fact that my friend Amy hasn't acknowledged my birthday.

Now that may sound selfish...but we've been close friends for 9 years, but grew apart when we went to separate 6th forms, but then we got close again. And now we've grown apart. I sent her a birthday card and letter for her birthday (2 days before [livejournal.com profile] luthienberen's birthday) in November, but i haven't heard anything from her since September, just before the whole Aber experience. And i thought to myself: If i dont hear anything from her on my birthday (which i always have done, even when we grew apart) then i guess the friendship is obviously over. And today? Nothing. And i have to be honest...the thought of losing her as a friend hurts a lot more than the fact that my grandparents have ignored my birthday.

I suppose i can hope i'll hear from her on monday....

ETA: Okay...so i'm posting this entry on the exact time that i was born 20 years ago...how cool is that?

ETA2: I suppose i should wish my twin 'Eastenders' a Happy 20th as well! May the plot lines improve!
So before christmas i book 15th of January off because it's my brothers birthday.

Which day does my manager decided to put me down for working? Hmm...let me guess. If i can't get that shift off, my brother can't have his party - as i am needed to babysit my little sister ...so fingers crossed that i can have it off.

Bearing in mind, when my friend told her i couldn't work it all she said was 'And?' And....I BOOKED IT OFF LAST MONTH!!!! grr....

And now a look at some figures:

Date: December 2003. Hours worked: 26.75 Amount Paid: £120.37
Date: December 2004. Hours worked: 27.89 Amount Paid: £106.74

I'm on a higher wage, working more hours, and i'm earning less. Bloody emergancy tax is taking at least 20% of my wage EACH WEEK.

I'm not a very happy camper tonight. [livejournal.com profile] luthienberen I still have no idea about when to meet up, because i dont know if my manager will/what day she will switch my shift to. I'm working wednesday...but apart from that i have no idea. *bangs head against wall* Shall we pencil in sometime next year?

Abu...when are you going to get a livejournal?! I found the funkiest thing this evening - communities for blockbuster employees!! Have joined [livejournal.com profile] bbv and [livejournal.com profile] _blockbuster_. Get an account so that you can join and hear their customer stories too!

Does anyone else thing the word 'work' looks strange? It looks like it should be pronounced 'wooork' or 'wok'...anyone? *shrugs* guess its just me then.

And as for [livejournal.com profile] the_leaky and [livejournal.com profile] outside_leaky...i have only one thing to say....Dean please please please dont do anything with Oliver! I love you and Seamus together!!!!

End rambling.
Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] luthienberen!

I hope you have a brilliant day!

I will email you very soon - i have lots of stuff to tell you! (Ok - maybe not lots to tell you...but certainly stuff!) Also...i made you a lj icon, but i cant upload it here, so hopefully i can email it to you instead!
