Howw could your grandparents not send you a card? Sorry about losing such a dear friend, but, I know this will sound cruel, people grow and move on. Sometimes together, sometimes apart. Our experiences in life change us - for the better or for the worse - and occassionally those experiences mean that with old friends or even family we can no longer stay in touch, for our experinces/nature has changed, so perhaps our sympathies and understanding are no where near each others as before. All I can offer is this: mourn but then move on - it is not worth your happiness to dwell on lost friendships with pain and bitternes. Treasure them instead and look forward to meeting more people on the road/journey through life.
