Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Dedwydd!
Mar. 1st, 2008 10:36 amMae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi,
Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri;
Ei gwrol ryfelwyr, gwladgarwyr tra mâd,
Tros ryddid gollasant eu gwaed.
Gwlad, gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad.
Tra môr yn fur i'r bur hoff bau,
O bydded i'r hen iaith barhau.
There's nothing more patriotic than hearing 80,000 people singing your national anthem. If you're curious what it sounds like and how the words are pronounced, just watch the vid. It puts a smile on my face every time.
Land of my Fathers, O land of the free,
A land of poets and minstrels, famed men.
Her brave warriors, patriots much blessed,
It was for freedom that they lost their blood.
Wales! Wales!,
I am devoted to my country.
So long as the sea is a wall to this fair beautiful land,
May the ancient language remain.
There are actually another two verses of the National Anthem, but it's often cut off after this point ;o)

Mainly because i have many memories of being a young teenager messing around and doing similar things on that same pier with my youth group...but that was such a wonderful scene - it brings such a huge smile to my face to watch it over and over again :o)
